News From Around Hartford County

With the summertime season winding down, and hopefully has been an enjoyable one for all, it is now time to begin our focus on the Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan 2006-2007 calendar year. The first plan meeting of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th at 19:00 hours at the Bloomfield Center Fire Department 18 Wintonbury Rd. Bloomfield, CT. Your attendance is important as there will be a lot of information presented for discussion. So, mark your calendar and plan to attend the meeting.

The members of the Valley Firefighter’s (Paugassett H&L Co.#1 Derby, the Webster Hose H&L Co. #3 of Ansonia and the Echo Hose H&L Co. #1 of Shelton) will be hosting this year’s CT. STATE FIREFIGHTERS CONVENTION on September 15th , 16th , and 17th . The parade will step off promptly at 1PM in Ansonia and travel through the three towns ending in Shelton.

This year’s Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan 56th ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE honoring deceased firefighters from the county will be hosted by the North Thompsonville Fire Department on Sunday, October 1, 2006. More details to follow in the upcoming October Hoseline. At this time, we are asking each department for their help in submitting a list of members who have answered his or her last alarm in the past year, so that their name will not be forgotten to be read off at the Memorial Service. The deadline for this information is September 23rd and can be forwarded to John Coelho at johnsechcfep@yahoo.com , fax # 860. 747-2137, cell# 860. 573-5641 or by mail to PO Box 447, Plainville, CT. 06062.

The CT. Fire Academy will be holding their Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday, October 15th 2006 at the CT. Fire Academy in Windsor Locks. More detailed information to follow in the October Hoseline.

To all County Chiefs, Training Officers and House Captains, if there are any changes or information about your department that needs sharing, please let me know ASAP, so that I can include it in the next print of the Hoseline. If there has been a line of Duty Death, a department member has answered his or her last alarm, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can make sure that their name is added to the list and not forgotten at the Annual Hartford County Memorial Service which is held in October during National Fire Prevention Week. Also if someone is sick or in the hospital please forward me their names so it can be read off at the board meetings and plan meetings. The HCFEP has now developed an e-mail database for the purpose of exchanging information with its members and others in a timely and effective manner. This new users group will initially be used to send an electronic version of the County Hoseline newsletter. In the future other information can be exchanged as well. Ok, you are probably wondering what will happen to those that don’t have a computer or access to one. Don’t worry, you will still be able to receive the Hoseline by mail by just writing to me at PO Box 447, Plainville, CT. 06062, fax me at 860 747-2137 or e-mail me at johnsechcfep@yahoo.com and your name will be added to the mail list. The Hartford County Hoseline provides members of the fire service with important information regarding the Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan , such as Upcoming Meetings and Training Classes.
