The Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan 56th Annual Memorial Service honoring deceased firefighters will be hosted by the North Thompsonville Fire Department on Sunday, October 1. 2006. This year’s service will be held at St .Adalberts Church on Alden Street in Enfield, CT.
A procession of firefighters will assemble at the corner of Alden Street and Enfield Street (Rt. 5) at 18:00 hours and proceed to march to the church where a memorial service will begin at 19:00 hours. There is a Ed Stebens Glass business on the corner of the street to be used as a landmark and there is also a traffic light. There is plenty of parking.
Directions to NTVFD: Take I-91 north to exit 49 at the end of the exit take left on to US RT. 5 (Enfield Street), the station is ½ mile on the left at the traffic light on the corner of Brainard Road.
Following the Memorial Service refreshments will be served at the North Thompsonville Fire Department.
October 8th marks the start of National Fire Prevention Week throughout the U.S. This year’s theme focuses on “Prevent Cooking Fires - WATCH WHAT YOU HEAT”

The National Fire Academy at Emmittsburg, MD. will be having their Twenty-Five Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service starting on Friday, October 6, and ending on Sunday, October 8, 2006. A reading of names of the firefighters that have die in the LINE OF DUTY and this year’s list has 107 of firefighters in the US.

On Sunday, October 15, at 14:00 hours a Memorial Service will be held at the Firefighters Memorial at the Connecticut Fire Academy, Firefighters Memorial Drive ( Perimeter Rd.), Windsor Locks, CT. Refreshments will be served following the service.
