NEWS FROM AROUND HARTFORD COUNTY

The November meeting of the Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan will be on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 1900 hours and hosted by the Avon Fire Department at their Darling Drive Station. A traditional Turkey Dinner will be served. RSVP is required. Avon Fire Chief Jamie DiPace has requested that you either e-mail him at jdipace@avonfd.org or call 860 677-2644 and leave a message with Jamie by Friday November 9 if you plan on attending.

Retired Deputy Chief Jack Regier will be giving the educational portion of the meeting on the proposed new DMV regulations and apparatus record keeping guidelines.

HARTFORD COUNTY FIRE EMERGENCY PLAN FIFTY-SEVENTH ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE

At this time, I would like to extend a warm “THANK YOU” to all the firefighters, their families, and friends who attended the 57th Hartford County Annual Memorial Service for Deceased Firefighters on Sunday October 14, 2007, that was hosted by Windsor Locks Fire Department. Because of your participation and support at this years event, it was a huge success. Thank you once again to see you there for next year’s memorial service.

To all County Chiefs, Training Officers and House Captain, If there are any changes or information about your department that needs sharing, please let me know ASAP, so that I can include it in the next print of the Hoseline. If there has been a Line of Duty Death, a department member has answered his or her last alarm. Please let me know as soon as possible so that I can make sure that their name is added to the list and not forgotten at the Annual Hartford County Memorial Service which is held during National Fire Prevention week. Also if someone is sick or in the hospital forward me their names so it can be read off at the board meetings and plan meetings. A SAFETY TIP FOR ALL

As many as you know we turn back the clocks at
2am on Sunday November 4, 2007 and by doing this it is time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and CO detectors. Also after putting in new batteries also test your detectors and as always check with the directions with the manufacturing that made your detectors.
